Power Generation :: SSS Clutch for CAES
SSS Clutches are used in the Huntorf Pumped Air Storage Plant for transmitting power from the turbines to the motor/generator during generation mode and from the motor/generator in the compression mode.

• The turbine side SSS Clutch transmits 300MW at 3000rpm.
• The compressor side SSS Clutch transmits 80MW at 3000rpm.
The clutches have been operating since 1978 without special maintenance or any replacement parts.
